How money works

The Perch is a scoreboard, not a wallet.

When you set a stake on a game or accept a side bet, The Perch tracks who would owe whom based on the scorecard. We do this so you can play with a buck on the line and not lose track of who paid for the last beer.

We never process payments, hold funds, or move money between players. Every dollar shown in the app is a tally — settle up the way you always have: cash, Venmo, the next round of beers.

What we do

  • · Tally wins and losses from the scorecard for every game stake and side bet.
  • · Show a per-counterparty ledger of who owes whom across all your games.
  • ·Let you mark a counterparty as paid up once you've actually settled in the real world.

What we don't do

  • · Process or hold any money. Not a single dollar moves through The Perch.
  • · Arbitrate disputes between players. If the scoring is wrong, the host can correct it.
  • · Charge interest, fees, or ever take a cut of your stakes. The ledger is just a tally.

A note on gambling

Friendly wagers between players are legal in most US jurisdictions when no third party takes a cut. The Perch is built for that: tracking a casual bet between you and your group. Local laws vary — if you're unsure, play for pride or beers instead.
